Yanks Win
Yanks just won, 2-1. Adam Warren contributed his best start since his return from the pen. He gave up a run in the first and that was it through 6. Making him a reliever remains one of the dumber things the Yanks did this year. The only runs for the Yanks were scored when Ellsbury got on and stole second (because Headley has been a GIDP machine) and they Headley hit a ground rule double and so did ARod. Rob Refsnyder had two hits, and no trouble at second, but still was removed for Ryan in the 8th. Joe, Joe, Joe.

Joey is a Teflon coated fool but they won, so yay
At least Refs is getting a chance to show he belongs in the bigs. My hope is that he does well enough that the Yanks don't sign another 2B this winter. Boras is probably going to try for a long term deal for Drew based on his HRs. Cashman and Hal -- rather than Girardi -- will be holding the pen on signing him and they may well think he's too expensive and too much of a long term commitment.
Drew is gone
It'll probably be a split between Ackley and Refs at second next season with Ryan as backup.
I think their big decision is on Price. He is LH, dominant, and they don't want him in Toronto or Boston, but has pitched a a lot of innings and will want what Scherzer got.
I'd stay away from him. Over 30, a lot of innings like you said, and will be owed a ton. Thankfully, the lack of big contracts coming off the books after this season might protect the Yankees from themselves.
We have to keep the picks again.
Price won't cost a pick but I don't they will sign any big ticket Free Agents as they don't have any big contracts falling off.
I can see them making an exception for Desmond to play 2B as they have liked him for years.
NYP
We’ve been through this before, when Rob Refsnyder was called up to much fanfare in July, only to be sent back down to the minors soon after.
But the rookie made his third straight start at second base on Saturday and singled twice in the Yankees’ 2-1 win over the White Sox in The Bronx. He’s had a hit in all three games and played at least adequate defense and afterward, Joe Girardi didn’t rule out more playing time for the right-handed hitting Refsnyder in the remaining games.
The manager wouldn’t venture a guess on the postseason, though.
“I don’t know,” Girardi said. “It’s too early, but we like the way he’s swung the bat and defensively, he’s done a good job. So I’ll continue to give him more opportunities.”
He doesn’t have much choice, with three more southpaws scheduled to start against the Yankees when the Red Sox begin a four-game series on Monday. Both Dustin Ackley and Stephen Drew have flailed against lefty pitching, which is what precipitated Refsnyder’s revival.
“It’s an awesome opportunity, but I just have to prepare,” Refsnyder said. “I’m sure that stuff will play out by itself. It usually does. Right now, I’m enjoying it.”
I think removing Ref's for D was the right move and also feel we need to keep our picks. Price would be nice but not at cost and years needed.
As the guy above suggested, I guess because he was traded in season, I don't think don't think there are picks involved.
They don't have money coming off the books, so they don't usually spend in that situation, unless maybe if the Mets…
