Yanks Clobber Mets

After a terrible start to the first where he gave up a run on back to back doubles, CC settled down and gave the Yanks 6 innings of 1 run baseball.  Ackley hit a three run jack, so he was lifted for Drew...  Seriously.   And they did that even after Girardi had been ejected from the game.  So some other idiot on the bench needs to go to.   Greg Bird also hit a three run bomb - this one going oppo and he had just missed another one earlier, to go with his two walks.  Ellsbury had three hits and maybe ready to get off welfare.  The Yanks just kept growing the lead and when it was 11-1, they put in Capuano for the 8th.  He made it 11-2, but because Giradi was gone thus nowhere near the bullpen phone, Betances and Miller did not warm up.  Also, Refsnyder and Slade each got an AB in the top of the 9th.  Also, Drew moved to short, and in the bottom of the 9th, and up 11-2, appeared to throw a guy out, but he was called safe.  But, even up 11-2 and because Drew was involved, they called for a review and the call was corrected.  Goody pitched a scoreless 9th, and Rumbelow pitched a scoreless 7th.   Both should have been worked in earlier this year.

They used to say that Billy Martin, among others, would make managerial decisions from the hallway between the dugout and the clubhouse so I assumed that is where Clueless was, making the asinine decision to remove Ackley in the 6th.

If not, I think it's reasonable time think that an idiot would surround himself with people who share his distorted baseball world view.

I'm glad the players were able to Girardi proof the win.

The Mets are going to get bounced in the NLDS. Fool's gold.

I'll take the other side of that bet.

With a better manager, the Yankees could overtake the BJs.

I would prefer Refs, but at least the anal manager is taking his head a little ways out of his butt:

Ellsbury 8
Gardner 7
A-Rod DH
McCann 2
Beltran 9
Headley 5
Bird 3
Gregorius 6
Ackley 4

They need to find a way to get Headley out of here. And Singleton has become an idiot

Shreve has been Girardi'd

I don't think it's unreasonable to think that A-Rod's futility in big spots tonight was a consequence of the travesty that is inter-league play.

Teams invest really big bucks on DH types and then watch them atrophy when they play in NL Parks.

This is on the players as well as the management types, and may be the second best failure to competitive balance to the blind eye they all took to PEDs.

There has to be a deal that reasonable parties can reach.

They are selling a bogus product.

best = biggest

And I don't think I have used the word types twice in a post in however long I have posted on the net.

Joey isn't even promising to play Ackley v. all LHP. It's obviously not going to be Refs because he has no veteran-ness. Stop him, please.

I do think Cashman is still all-in on this fool.

Since I've resigned myself to the fact that Refsnyder will never get a shot with this team, I'm on board with giving Ackley an extended look next year. But they'd better have a long-term plan in motion at second should he fail. Stop punting the position with bad signings.

I'm not on board with anything as long as the manager remains.

But it would make a ton more sense than Zobrist.

Some good news on Ian Clarkin: http://riveraveblues.com/2015/09/norris-ian-clarkin-added-to-instructional-league-roster-128240/

Great news, but damn, it's one more reason why you can't over leverage pitching.

Speaking on pitching, I wonder where Price ends up? Dodgers???

That's good to hear about Clarkin. If he does well, could he start 2016 n Tampa with a possible promotion to Trenton at the end? Of course they'll probably be extra-careful to watch his innings . . . .

At 4:36 PM, Blogger Mike in Mississippi said...

Probably will be extra careful. I really hope he can stay healthy, as I think he can be a solid rotation piece, especially if his fastball increases a couple of ticks.

Betances better get out of this, the jerk gutted the offense for defense
