Tanaka ACES the Jays
Wow, it was Tanaka-time today and he devlivered like the ace that he looked like before the shutdowns. Tanaka just completed a 4-1 victory over the Jays and, frankly, the ump was screwing him out of a lot of strikes as he was doing it. He struck out 8, and only really got in trouble in the 5th when he walked 2, loaded the bases and gave up a sac fly. Beltran homered again and so did Tex. Bird may have, too, but it was over the foul pole, and the umps didn't recognize it. He later got his first major league hit.
Huge win in a couple of ways. First, Tanaka saved the bullpen and gave them an offday. Second, Tanaka took all the pressure off of Severino tomorrow.
Also, Murphy should catch more often. He's a cat back there and with more AB's he'll prove to be a better hitter.

Honestly, as much as I like him, I'd dump McCann if he could be convinced to waive his NTC.
So would I. Murpy/Sanchez would be a great rotation.
Murphy that is.
Yay, and yes to axing McCann
Just my opinion, but I think if they didn't win Friday night they wouldn't have won today

Chill, guys.

But to explicate my original point for those not mentally challenged, some say momentum depends on the next day's starting pitcher. My point was that without winning on Friday, they may not have had the confidence to score as many runs on Saturday.
I can certainly buy into the idea that momentum is both real and important. I've watched too many athletic events to say otherwise. And sorry to bring this up, but the 2004 ALCS is a case study of this.
So Beltran is a DH.
We could use him:

They pay a heavy price for Beltran's bat.

From what I am reading on Twitter they took away Beltran's error, but I trust the person I am following.
it was an error, but they changed it. And really, guys. Chill. No one wants to read interpersonal crap here.

Ellsbury showing signs of life. Given their financial commitment to him, that is huge.
Ellsbury's issues are largely healthy-related, IMO. Both he and Gardner are also very streaky players in general.
Severino's early major-league outings are a microcosm of why wins and losses are a terrible way to judge pitchers.
I wonder if they'll ever tire of Drew making outs.
I agree with that.
This offensive has been so overly reliant on A-Rod and Teix that when they aren't at their best, it's hard to consistently score runs.
Having Beltran step up on Friday and Saturday was huge, but the defensive cost of having in the lineup is significant.
So who knows if they have any real interest in Reyes. Certainly, if I was directing their spending, it wouldn't be on him, but they probably feel they are close this year, and if it was about money rather than top prospects, who knows what they would do.
If they were as seriously committed to D as they pretend to be, Beltran would never be out there. Heathcott would give them another elite defender, and a live body with lots of upside.
Judge has been plagued by aches and pains and now curveballs down at AAA since he sat out for a week.
We have a bunch more pitching on the way, and that's even without Clarkin, German, DeCarr and Hensley not pitchig this year.
As for Drew, he seems to hit a HR every time it seems like he has worn out his welcome, but if they like him so much, they could platoon him with Refs, and just ditch Ryan.
