Brady Lail to AAA/Rookie Davis to AA
With the injuries thus far to Clarking, Hensley, DeCarr and others it's refreshing to see some of the healthy guys really stepping up this year. Brady Lail and Rookie Davis were just promoted, and each is has really come on.
Brady Lail has four pitches, but gets a lot of quick out with his two-seamer, thus his K's are lower than you might expect from a top pitching prospect, but he's just 21 and already in AAA. That's really impressive. He seems to have innate pitchability and sometimes those guys go very far.
Rookie Davis is more of a traditional power pitcher, who's improved his control this year and is dominating like you'd expect him to. Last season, Rookie had more good innings than bad innings, but in a lot of starts had an inning where things just came off the tracks. The year before he had missed a lot of the season with an illness that caused him to lose significant weight. So, Rookie has really battled to get back on the fast track, and this promotion is a tribute to his determination.
So, even with Mitchell and Severino up, there are at least two more starters who seem to be on the way.

The thing I like about the Yankees is that they seem to find players that are not top 5 round talent that seem to make an impact within the MLB. I think these two could be a good example of that.
That's a good point. And let's remember that Severino was not a big-time international sign. I think his bonus was $225,000 or so.
Some of the talent they've found outside the top 5 rounds, has only been signable with top 5 round money. Both Lail and Davis were overslot prep picks.
Given the fragility of pitchers, pitching depth is key. It's why I hope Kaprelian can move fast, too.
Phil -- Do you get the sense that more of the pitching prospects are developing into major league candidates since Gil Patterson took over?
I just hope they have the stomach to withstand any protracted, and for some young players inevitable struggles. They do for shitty and declining veterans, so there really is no reason not to for them.
To that end, I heard Joey say that the key to Gregorius's turnaround has been playing every day...
Ya think?
Ackley to the DL.
Cotham called back up.
Oh great, still stuck with Beltran.
Credit where it's due, this is quite a business, running HBO Now's streaming as well:
Major League Baseball Advanced Media to take over National Hockey League's digital media operations, including websites of league and clubs, in deal reportedly valued at $1.2 billion - @CBSSports
Mason Williams is having shoulder surgery.
Ackley has a herniated disk (Jack Z. is so sly)
Mitchell to the pen. (CC forever!)
That should make the NHL cap rise.
Also, I can't believe our luck with backs and shoulders...
Luck is a part of it, but I think there is some incompetence too.
I don't care if he gets a big hit now and then. Beltran is unwatchable.
I wish they had DL'd Beltran as soon as he complained about his foot.
Gary Sanchez has homered again.
They should package him and Refsnyder for a second baseman who can hit in the offseason. It's obvious neither one will be getting a chance with this club.
I'm not trading Sanchez.
They will. They probably see him as expendable with McCann signed for so many years.
Sheesh, Ellsbury is just brutal right now.
No trades except of veterans
I think they've seen the light with Sanchez for whom the light is now on.
They need a second baseman who can hit, and it's obvious at this point they aren't going to give Refsnyder a fair shot. A trade would be best for all sides.
Who?
Joe blows
Cashman and Girardi, if the question is directed at me.
No, the 2B you think they can get who is worth Sanchez and Refs
Meaningless Beltran hit to hold off reality
If they traded for Kinsler, for example, while I wouldn't personally like it, I would at least be OK with shipping Refsnyder away to a team that would play him.
I don't think there is a 2b worth Refsnyder and Sanchez. Also, Refs will be back.
I would rather have Dombrowski than Kinsler
