Yanks Win

ARod homered yet again, but DiDi Gregorius probably just had his best game as a Yank thus far.  He went three for four, with a homer and 3 RBI's and also really flashed in the field.  Tex only had 1 hit, but just missed having three homers of his own.  Btw, Chasen is opening up his own little filth shop just down the block from Dellin and Miller's.  Nasty stuff.   Girardi used Betances with a 4 run lead in the 9th, but that might have been because Wilson was a little shakey in the 8th, so Girardi had gotten him up then.   Still, it would be nice to see Goody debut in a non-save situation such as tonight's.   Still, 14 games over .500 and rolling.

Just trade for a righty reliever who's good and has veteran-ness, because Torre... Er, Girardi won't pitch kids.

Not too long ago, Gregorious was in a pretty big slump. They stuck with him, as they should with a struggling young player.

Somehow they can't do it with kids they drafted.

And yeah, I love how some Yankee fans think Girardi is the anti-Torre. How?

He was the anti-Torre to start off, as he managed the pen quite well when he first took over for the Yankees. He's now become Joe the Sequal, minus three rings.

Yes, I mean now.

That this team can't find someone better than Capuano to start tomorrow shows you just how thankful Yankee fans need to be toward A-Rod and Teix.

It's as if they don't want to be as good as they can be. They just bumble along based on their payroll, and this year a lot of luck.

It's Girardi trying to force a move for a starter. They could have held back Mitchell from AAA and brought him up.

Not many details at this point, but Ken Rosenthal just reported that Troy Tulowitzki has been traded to the Blue Jays. Because, you know, what the Blue Jays needed was another hitter. But seriously, that’s a pretty massive move within the division.

Rosenthal has added that Jose Reyes and minor leaguers will go to Colorado in the swap.

I had zero desire for the Yankees to acquire another 30-plus guy who's injury-prone and owed a lot of money. Glad it's the Jays' problem and not the Yankees'.

In general, I've been pleased with the restraint thus far and hope it continues. Is that true about Girardi trying to force a trade, Phil?

Remember when Torre played Enrique Wilson in RF and got Geoorge to trade Raul Mondesi? That's what starting Capuano tomorrow seems like.

If that's the case, it could backfire. I don't think Girardi has the same standing that Torre had, and perhaps he is acting out of insecurity for his position. If he gets another ring, he gets another contract.

Mondesi negatively changed Soriano.

You never know what they offer but were turned down.

For example, take the reports of an offer of Nova for Cueto. That would be good, but if the report had any validly, what else would the Yankees have had to include? That might have been not good.

I long for a Yankee manager not named Joe.

You wouldn't like Joe Maddon? :P

Joe McCarthy was probably the best Yankee Manager in history.

I'm reasonably confident that neither are will be the next Yankee manager. ;)
