Knicks Stuff

Alright, tomorrow is the biggest day in recent Knicks history.  They have the #4 pick, three trade exceptions, and a bunch of cap room.   What if they finally do it right?

Let's hope.  Meanwhile, Kevin Love just opted out of his deal and is a free agent.

I am sure Love will either sign with the Lakers, who will have massive cap room next off-season when Koby's contract drops off (over $70 million!!!), or sign a 1 year deal with the Cavs, and sign somewhere else next year.

Something inside me wants the Knicks to draft 'Zinger' tomorrow. Kid has hops, can really shoot, and seems to have a knack for blocking shots. And a solid handle with the rock.

Kid is two years away from being strong enough -- at least.

What they do with the pick will be the tell. If they do it right, fine. If not, I'm done.

And as I have said, the smart play is to save significant cap room for 2016.

This has to be a very incremental process to be done right.

What scares me is that Jackson thinks he has PG covered. That's bizarre.

I will be shocked if the pick is Mudiay, btw.

I want Zinger as well -- strength is easily gained and in today's NBA, there are no bangers down low like Mason or Oakley where this weakness would be exposed. He's a perfect player in today's game and is definitely able to come in right away and contribute. He is not some guy who needs 2 years away from being a contributor. If you watch any of his videos, he's not afraid of contact and he's a fierce competitor, two traits that mitigate his current lack of strength. He's also 7'2 and has the athleticism of AK47 -- SIGN ME UP.

Zinger would also allow Melo to play in the block and would be a great weakside shot blocker right out of the gate. If you can't tell by now, this is who I'm hoping for.

I would be ok with him for one reason: it would suggest a strong commitment to a long-term plan.

Since I don't think they care about the long-term at all, I would be beyond shocked if they took him.

If you sign Love to go with Melo, who playing defense in the post? And don't tell me Cauley-Stein. I don't want him.

I don't want Cauley-Stein either. Would want him only if we already had a deep winning team.

Love and Melo is a disaster in the making. There is no Patrick Ewing to play in the middle.

I would rather, if they really want Love, that they trade Melo to the Lakers for the #2 pick and something else.
