Degano Signs for 650K
The Yanks got one of their most intriguing picks, LHP Jeff DeGano, signed at significant savings. Signing the senior - who may have had another year of eligibity because he missed time for TJS - saved them 424, 400 against the pool - which they sure as hell better not use on Kaprielian but should spread around between Gilliam and some of the other interesting picks from day 3.
Meanwhile, Degano, if he can stay healthy, could be one of the steals of the draft. His velo kept coming back from the left side, and he has some swing and miss. Nice combo, and hopefully, he can stay a starter.

I think Kaprielian could get slightly over slot.
That would be idiotic for the Yanks to do.
I agee Buz
Pineda has been awful tonight.
A Boras tax?
Pineda is too inconsistent
Get this Crap off the team
I'm less concerned about the absolute $ amount they use on Kaprielian than if what they use to sign him prevents them from signing someone else at a reasonable price. Aside from Gilliam, whom do we think has a chance to be a strong prospect among the Day 3 crowd that is still unsigned?
My thinking is the little extra they could give Kap wound be to speed up the process.
McCann's defense is so erratic.
They don't need to speed up the process with Kaprielian. He already pitched over 100 innings this year. He went where he was suppposed to so he will have to take slot. Fucking Boras still owes us for things like telling us to take Garrett Cole because he would sign...
Is it accurate that the Yankees still have around $600K bonus pool $$, less whatever they gave Robertson over $100K, plus another $400K +/- where they are taxed but don't lose a draft choice? That's in the neighborhood of $1M -- how would folks allocate it?
I like Hicks and O Brien
Gilliam and Garzillo (pick # 38). Those are the guys I want.
