NBA Draft Lottery Day Arrives for the Knicks

Win or lose, today the Knicks begin their semi-annual period of relevance.  Today, the Knicks will find out if they are picking first, or anywhere for second to 5th.   Whatever player they take - or players they add by trading that pick - will not only influence what they do in free agency, but could set the franchise up for years to come.   Or they could screw it up.  Afterall, they are the Knicks, and they've been screwing things up for 40 years.

30 year ago, they landed the top pick in the lottery and took Patrick Ewing.   Looking back, it's almost inconceivable that they didn't win a title with him, but like I said, they are the Knicks and they do tend to screw things up.   Let's hope The Great Unscrewing starts tonight.

The Ewing shortfall was primarily on Scotty Sterling, who makes every GM I have ever trashed look like a genius. Losing the chance for Pippen altered the next 15 years.

I won't watch the lottery tonight.

Oh, and let me say it now so it won't be seen as hindsight-ish complaining. Having 13 teams in the lottery, especially in the NBA where one player can mean so much, is ridiculous.

Stern was extremely overrated and obnoxiously arrogant.

Silver seems different. I hope he changes it, even if it hurts the Knicks at some point.

Lawyer;

I won't be watching the lottery either. I have no desire to see Mills do a dance if the Knicks get the top pick.

I can find out on the radio where the Knicks pick almost right away so why waste time watching??????

It bothers me to no end that the Knicks never got that 2nd superstar to play with Ewing. They get Blackman when he's old and near the end, and Riley doesn't even use him, in spite of Starks shooting blanks for 40 minutes.

Harper was close, but not enough. Houston never had that all-around game to really compliment Ewing. X-Man was not enough, although he really brought toughness to NY.

Pippen would have been great.

They also shouldn't have traded both Jackson and Strickland.
