This Week on the Blog

This should be a really interesting week on the blog - for all of our teams.  Let's take a look.

Rangers:  They have to win today or their season ends.  Then they have to do it again, and if they can, they will be halfway to where they want to go.  If they lose we'll take a day or two then start working on offseason goals and strategy.

Yanks:  They have to keep winning. Also, starting on the 15th, they'll have one more month left to sign protected age IFA's before their two year austerity period begins. Also, Greg Bird's shoulder is acting up so he's on the 7 Day DL.  Further, they should call up Lindgren to help the pen.

Giants:  Giants will get back into their offseason program and will start OTA'ing if they haven't already.  Also, expect more fiddling with the roster as they add and subtract UDFA's and other street FA's.

Knicks:  The Knicks will continue to twiddle their thumbs until the lottery, which they must win.

So, interesting stuff.  With the Rangers it's urgent, with the Yanks and Giants it's business as usual, and with the Knicks it's always dire.

Have a great week, readers!

I like everything McAdoo and Spags are saying, including that Beason can play the Pierce role, but it's only natural to be skeptical that Beason can stay on the field, and/or that he still the same player.

If he can be what he was when he got here, and every other key player has a typical season (not even necessarily a great one), the defense could be really good.

If JPP, DRC, Prince, Hankins and Moore have great seasons (which is possible), look out.

If hockey was like baseball, I would have Zuc throw out the first puck.

I think Beason can play that Pierce role and JT Thomas is a decent back up for that spot as well. Remember, 2007-2008 Pierce was already of a shell of what he had been before the high ankle sprain in 2005.

Had no idea about Bird -- that may explain his batting average struggles up to this point.

Signs of life from Beltran. It's gratifying that he is cognizant of the May 15th deadline I set for him. :)

I gave him until the end of May, so he's got more leeway with me.
