Yanks: CC Needs Work

So, CC gave up two wind swept over the wall homers, and an inside the park homer, as well as 4 runs in his second appearance.  And you know what?  It was a very encouraging outing and that's because he was getting some swings and misses and his velo was back up over 90.   When it's like that, his change starts to work, so though CC had some bad luck, if he can stay healthy, there's no reason why he won't give the Yanks a lift this year.  Big CC is back.

So Pirela has to play the OF, but suck jobs like Drew gets to play 2B no matter what. No wonder this team is a mess.

Yeah, that was rough, and Pirela made a crazy effort on that ball that was getting carried by the wind.

Saying Pirela is a 2B is a bit of a stretch although he is a better fielder than Refsnyder.

Hope he is OK.

Read a report yesterday Hal was talking about getting under the luxury tax in two years — again.

It's really like clockwork with this team:
A.) Ownership discusses the need to get under the tax in the midst of several bloated contracts. Doing so prevents team from making moves (re-signing Russell Martin; not replacing Nick Swisher).
B.) Team doesn't make the playoffs.
C.) Plan gets abandoned when some money comes off the books, more bloated contracts are added.
D.) Ownership discusses the need to get under the tax in the midst of several bloated contracts.

File that one in the "no wonder this team is a mess" folder next to Lawyer's example.

Anon wants a stellar defensive team that can't score.

If the Yankees had that mindset since their inception, they would have won many less championships and won many less rings.

So I get the reason for the Anon.

Its called run prevention.

Pirela is nothing but a utility player at best.

Those championship teams were good enough defensively as well.

You are aware that Jeter was awful at SS for large parts of his career, right?

The point is that he hit like an all-time great SS so it didn't matter.

Jeter could make the routine plays.

Pirela cant and Refnyder's 2B mitt should be taken away from him.
