Yankees Workout Moncada A Second Time

According to the Post, the Yankees gave Yoan Moncada a second workout last night at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.  At first blush, it would appear that the Yanks just wanted another look before making an offer.  But it's also likely that by doing it in Tampa, the domestic team of execs, like Gary Denbo, and scouts, like Damon Oppenheimer, got a look at him.  So though it was at least a second look for the Yanks, it was probably a first look for some of their key people.  Let's hope they're in it to win it.

This is a must get -- I expect him to sign within the week, as his agent indicated 2/23 as there deadline so he can make it to spring training on time

And as far as whether or not he might "block" Refs, Refs can play the OF (I think he will be a better hitter than Gardner), and they may need a chip for the ultimate SS or 3B.

I still think they should trade Gardner because it makes sense in terms of maximizing assets and getting younger, but that's not what they do, unfortunately.

Moncada can also play the OF. We desperately need bats wherever we can get them.

Hope they get this done soon.

Where's the Knicks deadline blog?! Would love to see them grab Dragic but I doubt a deal of Calderon + Hardaway entices Phx.

Also, pitchers and catchers report today! Come on!!!

I'll write about the Knicks if they do anything at the deadlin. Meantime, I just want them shedding, not not getting better and jeopardizing the pick.

I don't want to get better either, but even as a free agent, do you really want to allocate what would reportedly could be close to $20m for Dragic?

Got a very good feeling about Moncada.
