Rangers Win a Wild One on the Island
Phew, the Rangers finally beat the Islanders after looking horrible against them most of the year. This looked for awhile like yet another stinker but the Rangers showed their moxie and won. Tavares scored right off the bat for the Islanders and it looked like the rivalry might be a little big for Talbot. Then they got another goal and it was 2-0. Then McD scored his first of the night. And it was 2-1 after 1.
Islanders then scored early in the second, to make it 3-1, but Kreider answered back from Stepan and Boyle. Then McD tied it from JT Miller. But then the Isles scored again to make it 4-3 after 2.
They made it 5-3, before Stepan scored from Kreider and Klein. Then MSL tied it from Stepan and Staal. Finally Klein scored the winner from MSL and a great play by Brass and the Rangers won.
It was an entertaining game, but the Ranger D was better on O than on D. Too often they let the Isles crowd the crease and score. If they trade for a D, I hope it's a mean one, who can clear the crease. Though, why McIlrath isn't already that poses a question about the Ranger development program. And yes, they still miss Sauer. But it was a big win, and it was also important that Talbot didn't totally melt down as he got close to doing.

A really good, come from behind win.
Sauer.
Sigh. I also miss him. Tough, strong crease-clearing D-Man.
