Giants Beat the Team from Washington
It's going to be hard to lose and get a higer pick when Odell Beckham catches 12 ball for 143 yards and 3 TD's. Could have had 4 but one was called back. Also, he muffed a punt at the end of the game and that should keep him working hard. What a player. The passrush is also back, though it has been against teams that give up a lot of sacks. Hankins looks like he's better than Linval. Kennard made some more plays.
I really do thnk they can be good again as soon as next year if they can fix the lines, get another LB, as well as another WR and RB. Of course, another DC is a given.

This victory hurts more than it helps. They were pretty much dominated in the 1st half except for the score.
I see no reason to believe that Reese is capable of fixing the OL. He failed to see its impending decline and every pick he made prior to last year was wasted on busts.
He has also sucked at drafting LB, and he picked Jernigan and Randle at WR.
They have sucked v. good teams.
Nothing less than fundamental change at the top is acceptable.
Hankins has 7 sacks already.
Yeah, there are a few good isolated picks. That is not nearly enough.
This thing is broken.
This thing is also seriously injured.
Btw, I have gone pick by pick through the last 10 drafts and the only clear OL mistake they made was Sintim over Max Unger.
That's football.
Eli is no longer mentioned among the top QB. The reason is simple: Reese's failure to rebuild the line. That wasted three years of Eli's prime. That is inexcusable, and a reasonable basis to fire someone.
And age aside, Coughlin has been here too long.
I don't think you're going to get either wish. But Fewell will be gone and that will help a lot.
That the most glaring mistake, but it is indicative of a bigger failure.
You can't whiff completely on Brewer, McCants, and Mosley, for example, and keep your job when you have an aging and immobile QB, who is a top QB when he gets time to throw and he doesn't have to throw to WR who drop the ball, or a TE who fumbles.
Of course not because the worst part of Wellington is part of John, and Wellington was a terrible owner until Rozelle forced change on him.
McCants was a 6th rounder. Both Brewer and Mosley were 4ths.
Where they have spent hight picks on OL's like Pugh, Richburg and even Beatty, they have gotten production.
And Reese hasn't set up the board since 2006.
So what if they were later round picks. Diehl was a 5th, Seubert and O'Hara weren't drafted.
Then fire Ross. It would be a start.
All the NY teams are owned by men who inherited wealth. That result is men who haven't had to compete to get to the top, and that, I believe, is a large part of the problem.
That should be considered. But remember, as more metrics have been developed and scoutng has expanded, you don't see Dave Diehl's in the 5th anymore.
Btw, they took him because his coach coached Mouse McNally's system, so that was a rare circumstance even for then, He was able to adjust to Flaherty's technique, but no one knew he could do anything but Mouse stuff till he did.
Petigout couldn't adjust.
They drafted Mosley because he reminded them of Diehl.
Koets was developing then he got that neck injury. Whimper played well, but refused to practice. Petrus, who reminded them of Seubert, was coming on for a year or so, then fell off a cliff.
The other thing, is that once the Giants were successful with a certain type of OL, other teams, like the Browns, Pats and Bills along with some others started picking guys that we probably had ranked high.
For example, this year, the idea was to get Jack Mewhort in the third, since they felt he'd still be there. Unfortunately, the Colts reached up and took him.
So it's not just about throwing picks at the position, it's about the players being there.
Giants win a useless game and Yanks sign Headley for 4 years ....I would stand clear of LNJ LOL
