Yankees: Encinas is Back!
Ty Hensley isn't the only injured top Yankee pitching prospect working his way back in GCL, turns out Gabe Encinas is, too. Gabe was a bit of a sleeper, though an overslot teen when they got him. But, before his injury, he had become electric and was looking like he might fly through the system. We have to hope he is fully recovered, because if he is, he could land in High A by season's end and AA next year. Really nice prospect and it's great to have him back pitching.

It's as if Girardi receives an incentive bonus for putting as much has-been crap as possible in the lineup. Of course, most of his options are just that now that Solarte has turned into a pumpkin.
He's not even batting Gardy and Ellsvury 1-2 with Jeter sitting out tonight. I really think he's a poor mgr.
Aside from Gardner, Ellsbury and Teixeira, it's not like he's got a lot to work with.
I'm fine with firing anyone in a position of real authority who currently works for the Yankees, especially those that have financial protection.
He's won less than he should when he's had more than he has right now.
I don't love him. Obviously, his strength has been his bullpen mgmt in comparison to his predecessor, BUT I don't think he is the biggest problem with the franchise UNLESS he is being given veto power over integrating young guys on to the roster over the current declining veterans.
And if he does have that veto power, then it is as much, if not more, on the person who gave it to him.
I think the effect of the manager is overrated. As David Wells said this weekend, how hard was it for Torre to win with the kind of players he had on the roster?
If we are looking at only marginal management changes, look what KC's offense has done since they changed batting coaches (although granted, I don't think they have much impact overall).
To me though, apart from the development failures, the real issues are: who is deciding to sign McCann when you have Tuck saying what he said about Murphy?
Who is deciding to give Choo 21 hours to sign?
Who is deciding that having both Ellsbury and Gardner is the best use of (somewhat) limited resources.
I see some people saying they should have given Cano 10 years. IMO, that would be a mistake because it would not just be about Cano. It opens the door to giving others 10 years. So I definitely understand that decision.
The only exception to that kind of contractual restriction, is if you have a Trout type and you would be giving him 10 years at a very, very young age.
Look at what Toronto's O has done since they switched hitting coaches.
It would send a message that people better not feel overly safe, which this organization probably needs.
It's worth trying. Who gives a crap about Kevin Long? And if he is as good as some think, he would get snapped up in a NY second.
At some point, they have to give some of McCann's PT to another C. This is just absurd.
Oh yeah, and remember that guy on LoHud who claimed to be an insider and people would bow at his feet?
Pat M, who used to make sense, may have had his account hijacked by him:

SweetSpot. I remember being told a long time ago that you’ll learn far more about this game when you try to understand the logic of trades and transaction as well as decisions on the field rather than just pissing and moaning about things. After all isn’t that what the media is for, pissing and moaning ???? Peel back the layers of an onion and you’ll know what an onion really is all about . All we get around here is the constant surface ragging because of one’s personal agenda. We get to maybe know 1/100 of the information the club has yet we’re so prone to just go on a tirade. It’s all part of the new internet baseball fan culture…..

This ain't rocket science, man.
The LoHud regulars are for the most part a nightmare. So many egos. so little baseball insight.
