Break Up The GCL Yankees!
Both GCL teams won again this morning, but what was really encouraging was that Ty Henlsey pitched! As you know, he has pitched precious little since the Yanks picked him in the first round in 2012. Sort of the Pineda plan. Anyway, he seems to have worked 2.2, given up 3 hits, a walk and a run, but he K'd 5, so we'll starter their.
Also, Alexander Palma, the toolsy RF hit a home run and a double. Now this is exactly what he's supposed to do, but, meeting expectations is not the same and he had a big game.
Matt Borens also pitched and he didn't give up any runs, nor did Joe Harvey, who closed game 1, and Andre Del Bosque who worked .1 innings in relief of Ty Hensley. That was it for the draft picks, wait, Jordan Foley also pitched.
Allen Valario, a 3B hit a homer and a double in the other game. GCL 2 scored 12 runs today.
The GCL is sort of disposable fun, but careers are starting their, and sometimes leverage and traction begins there, so it's good to keep an eye on them.
Btw, Yankees DSL1 and DSL2 has a lot bunch of guys who's batting lines are out of the 1930's, so far.
