Rangers Pick Up An Extra 2 for 2015

When the Martin St. Louis trade was made two terms were unlikely to be met.  First, it was unlikely that the Rangers would advance to this year's conference championships, which would replace the 2014 2nd round pick with a 2014 1st round pick.  They did and it did.  Second, it was really unlikely that Ryan Callahan would re-sign with the Lightning, bringing the Rangers Tampa Bay's 2014 second round pick.  But, rather than shuffling off to Buffalo, Cally resigned with the Lightning tonight, and the Rangers now have 2 2's next year.  They have no ones this year or next or last, because they've forgotten how to negotiate the pick parts of trades, but they have 2 2's next year.  Which is better than no 2's, which we had last year, or a few years before when we traded 2 2's for a defensive prospect who couldn't make the team and got sent to Cleveland for Nash (so he cost, 2 2's, a 1, Dubi and Artie, for those keeping track at home).

Hopefully, they do some wheeling a dealing to get into the first round on Friday.   They're system has had too many graduations lately, and a few more on the way.

I wish they could trade St. Louis and Nash.

And it's kind of curious that Callahan agreed to less money than he declined with the Rangers.

I wouldn't be shocked if they traded Nash.
