Yanks Offer Omar Infante 3/24

That's one more year than I would like and one less year than Omar would like.   I guess this would be fine.   Omar's and inconsistent hitter from season to season and a pretty average 2b with the hands for the DP, which are terribly overlooked in lots of appraisals of middle infielders.    We should be alright if he says, yes.  I would have preferred to try to get Dustin Ackley.   Hilariously, as the Yankee offer started to circulate, the Reds suddenly jumped in for Infante.   Was their idea to ransom Infante so that the Yanks would have to give them Gardner or something?  As it is they already have a 2B that's being overpaid for too many years.    Anyway, as long as the Yanks don't get nudged to 4 this is fine and he'd be an okay Yank.

UPDATE:  Apparently, Infante wants 4/40.  Perhaps the Yankees leaked their offer as a type of reality therapy, but that seems like too big a spread for the Yanks to want to cover.  Hopefully, there are dumber teams out there.  And hopefully, they can pry Ackley away from the Mariners, and while they're at it, bring back Montero.

have you heard rumors to the fact of the Yanks trying for Ackley or is this wishful thinking?
