Rangers in Crisis

The Rangers had a chance to make hay, and rise up past .500 on the nine game home stand that started earlier this month.   Instead, they have 1 win, and all losses.  Last night, they got tossed by the Islanders.  Another team that's always teetering around crisis state.   The new coach has been horrid.    Henrik Lundqvist has been terrible.

They just gave Hank a huge contract to basically stay the elite goalie he's always been through most of it.   This season, the word elite cannot be attached to any of his performances.   Anyone can score on him these days.

Going further, Dan Girardi's game has fallen off a cliff.  I remember Torts used to call him a horse.    Maybe he rode the horse too long and too often, but Girardi just isn't good right now.

Staal and Callahan are out with injuries, which has been par for their last few years.

Stepan doesn't look like Stepan, instead he looks like a guy who held out and didn't work out.

Rick Nash has been injured and now he's playing like a 7 million dollar roll of Charmin.

Brassard and John Moore have been up and down, though they are trending up lately.

And it may be more about all those guys underachieving than about the fact that the Rangers are dressing non-producers like Boyle, DMoore, Pouliot and Falk most nights.

They have a day off today, then a game against the Wild tomorrow.   Some of the healthy stars like Hank and Nash have to decide to lead and take a stand, or this season is gonna get away from them.   Just a horrible home stand thus far.
