At Least the Rangers Won!

While the Knicks were inexplicably losing to the Cavs again, even while getting great games from Melo and Amar'e, and the Yanks were losing to the Sox in Tampa, the Ranger halted their 3 game skid beating the Sens 4-1 on the row. They now have 20 road wins against 14 at home. Weird. Derek Stepan scored again and it looks like he could finish with more than 20 in his rookie year. Nice.

As for the Knicks? They wasted great games by Melo and Amar'e. Things should start rolling when Chauncey gets back.

For the Yanks, Manny Banuelos pitched two more scoreless innings hitting 96 on the gun and showing three plus pitches. If he didn't have an innings restriction he would make the team. Wow! Can't trade him. Go Teams!

UNACCEPTABLE yet again Dantoni. Please hire Doc in 2 years after he wins the championship this year... How do you lose twice to the Cavs in a week's span?

we need Chauncey.

clearly, imagine if CP3 was healthy the other night the blowout could have been the other way.. Speaking of his health concerns are worrisome... I hope Deron makes it to FA... 2 losses to Cleveland Chauncey or not, not acceptable. 234 points allowed to the 25th ranked offensive team in the league, speaks volumes..

Rangers still scare me too, with Buffalo having 3 games in hand. Rangers need 93 points imo, 90 wont get there... If they miss where will the accountability be there?? Nowhere as usual..

The Knicks just game together and they had to deplete some role players in the trade. Melo and Amar'e played well, and they should have won. They need Chaucey, because everyone else on the roster is inconsistent. They'll go on a run.

I'm not worried about the Rangers. If they fall out of it, it's a great lottery year.

Good point about the NHL draft Phil though we need to recoup picks somehow

We definitely need Bigs. I hope Donnie and staff have s monster draft!

The Rangers have a 1 and 2 2's, but are currently missing a 3 and a 7. It's a deep draft and they have been picking really well lately.

Donnie will find us a big. Jerome Jordan may just be the guy and we already have his rights.

I agree with Michael. No defensive intensity is on the coach because it has been that way since he has been here.

At 8:29 PM, Blogger Kalel9 said...

It's been that way since well before he was here.

Well, the prior coaches were either too intense and past their prime (Brown) or incompetent (Chaney, Isiah) or had their legs cut out from under them (Wilkens).

D'Antoni had the status and job security to demand defensive intensity (you don't have be a good player to do that), but it wasn't a priority.

Apparently, it still isn't.

So I think that he is the wrong man for the job. Van Gundy would be perfect, but it's not going to happen, so I hope the players somehow get it done despite the coach.

I still like D'Antoni and think we will win with him.

The more good players they get, the more likely that it is, but I don't see him as the type of coach that gets more out of less.

I think he would have a ring if not for playoff suspensions with the Suns. He just had to change 3 starters and two key bench spots on the run, and Billups has been down for two of the games since the trade.

What about the rest of his years there?

I think that's the point though. Too many things have to go right when your team isn't giving a max defensive effort every night.

Billups' absence isn't why they don't play defense.

I'm not going to play a blame game with the Knicks or anything. But if Chauncey played tonight, I believe they would have won. I do believe we need a defensive big who can rebound and throw outlet passes. I believe if we had been able to get Camby at the deadline, I'd like our chances now. Still, I think this team has a run in it.

I don't think it's a playing a blame game to acknowledge that D'Antoni's teams don't prioritize defense.

Given the defensive legacy of the coaches that have won in NY, that's pretty tough to swallow.

I think they can go on a run too, but I also think they would run further with the same talent and a different coach.

Rich I just don't do blame, it has nothing to do with the Knicks and sports. It's a spiritual thing.

It's not blame. It's accountability. There's a difference.

To me, spiritually, pointing out the accountability of someone else is no different than blame. I am concerned with only my own accountability. It has nothing to do with sports.

Outside the employment or governmental context, I would agree. In those realms, it comes with the job.

At 2:16 PM, Blogger Rich said...

I should have added "high-powered" before employment.

I just have a good feeling about D'Antoni and what's to come with these Knicks.
