Giants Win in Comeback Fashion

It was a tale of two halves at the new stadium today, as the Giants roared back from an embarrassing first half to post their 7th win. Missing three OL's and three WR's the Giants were still able to get TD receptions from Manningham and Boss, and those were the difference. Ware looks like he could be the answer on KR's. The DL was dominant down the stretch and both JPP and Linval Joseph got in on the action. Big win. Go Giants!

Yanks Getting Ready to Offer Lee 5 Years?

There are reports flying around that the Yankees will be offering Cliff Lee a 5 year deal worth 120M. That ought to do the trick. There would probably be options involved, but I'm not too worried about 5 years for Lee given his lean build and reliance on pitchability. The Yanks have done phenomenally well over the years with lefties who can field.

Giant Fluke

Giants lost a silly one yesterday. It was a perfect storm of little things. Hopefully, it will all be cleaned up going forward. Go Giants!

Cash Flying to Arkansas

Brian Cashman is apparently on his way to Arkansas to meet with Cliff Lee. The reports claim that no offer will be made, but Cash knows when to swoop and if Lee wants to be a Yankee, there's no reason why something can't be put together quickly. Cash is a closer. Never forget that. Go Yanks!

Giants Clobber Seattle

As expected the Giants went into Seattle and kicking the living crap out of them. 41-7 and it wasn't that close. Eli was terrific once again, as was Nicks. Bradshaw didn't rack up yards, but still scored twice. The defense only had one sack and it came on a blown snap, so they've got to pick that up again. Still, Seattle wasn't able to move the ball. It was a well called game again, and that's a very good sign. The Giants have to keep it up and clean up the occassional carelessness that creates turnovers or opportunities for their opponents. They will. Go Giants!

MLB FA Opens at Midnight

Get Lee and only make good trades, Yanks! They must keep Montero, Betances, Banuelos and Sanchez. It would also be nice if they named a pitching coach. Or just let Lee pick one. Go Yanks!

Whither Lee?

The drama of this offseason will probably center around the Yanks pursuit of Cliff Lee. I am strongly in favor of getting him in pinstripes. He really knows how to pitch, and looks like he will last several more years. Athletic lefties really tend to stick around and he's exactly that. What's more he is a close friend of CC Sabathia and they really could push each other to the heights we'll be paying them to achieve. I'd also like to have Andy Pettitte back. I suspect AJ Burnett will be traded either this offseason or next, and neither Betances nor Banuelos will be ready for full season work in `11. So we might as well have Andy back for one more. At least as things look now. There could be newspaper drama around the Jeter negotiations, but we know how that will end up. I expect Mo will be announced soon.

Hal Says Payroll Will Stay About The Same

Hal has not joked around about payroll in past, so he probably isn't today. Remember, that there are some contracts that go up this year, I believe Swisher's and Granderson's are among them. So, in order to add Lee, they may have to get family discounts from Jeter and Mo. We'll see, but at the conclusion to today's "organizational meetings" he made his proclamation. So it could be a winter of chicken with Jeter and Mo, especially if they go right after Lee.

Yanks Pitching Coach

According to Bryan Hoch, Gil Patterson is among the candidates to replace Dave Eiland as Yankee Pitching Coach. Scott Aldred and Mike Harkey are also said to be in the mix. Leo Mazzone has said he's interested, and may be the most intriguing name on the list. He has a great track record, and a philosophy that involves building armstrength and pounding the outside corner. It would be interesting to see whether the Yanks would add Mazzone's armstrength program throughout the system, or whether they'd keep doing what they are doing there if Mazzone was the hire. I like Aldred of the in-house candidates. What are you guys thinking?
