Gutty Win!

With the Rays already up 3-2 in the 3rd and with the bases loaded, one out and Andy having to leave the game with a groin injury, Dave Robertson came in and got the next 5 outs, to shutdown the Rays, and allow the Yanks to get back into the game, which they ended up winning 9-5. The Yanks did a great job of grinding today and got big hits from Cano, Tex, Swish, Jeter and ARod. Girardi did a nice job with the bullpen by brining in DRob early to put out the biggest fire. With the win, the Yanks have won the series and taken a 3 game lead over Tampa. Huge win. Monday is an offday. Go Yanks!

Yup, great job by Robertson, who I thought was the player of the game even though YES didn't offer him as a choice, and props to Girardi for using him there (I wonder if he would have if the sucky Gaudin and Moseley weren't used yesterday).

In a similar vein, this is their chance to put Joba back in the rotation (even though he isn't stretched out), but I suppose that's too outside the box for them.

Major props to the offense today. When they grind like they did today, they're unstoppable.

Even more props belong to the pen. While Price was getting every close call, the Yankee pitchers didn't get anything unless it was right down the middle. A great all-around job.

No to Joba having any significant role on this team period, much less as a starter.

Pettitte has a grade one strain, the least severe grade.

No matter what we think (and how right we are), Joba is going to have a significant role on this team, so with that in mind, why not as a starter? He's rotting in the pen.

That NoMaas post on Joba really misses the big picture. He can'r consistently repeat his mechanics, so his BABIP and his peripherals really don't tell you all that much.
