Big Name Hunting?
In the past day or so, both the Knicks' Donnie Walsh and the Rangers' Glenn Sather have said they are not done. In both cases the men seemed to be implying big things instead of small. For example, Sather talked about needing more scoring, and not leaving it all up to Marian Gaborik. Marc Berman of the Post got the idea that the Knicks were looking for an outside shooter, and were also looking to trade Eddy Curry and Wilson Chandler.
So what could this mean? In the Rangers' case I still think they are waiting for Ilya Kovalchuk to come to them for a price they can handle. And then I think we would see Brandon Dubinsky packaged with Rozsival for some cap relief. None of that would bother me. Kovalchuk's a better LW than Dubinsky, and we have other kids in the system who will also be better.
The Knicks' case, is a little more sinister. They felt absolutely jilted by LeBron the other day, and since then there has been all sorts of chatter about Carmello Anthony. That could be the shooter they are alluding to, though it takes him way too many shots to get his points, and he needs to drive more, rebound more, pass better, and play better D, if he wants to be what he can be. The other noise we're constantly hearing is about Chris Paul. I had heard a rumor at the beginning of the year that either he would somehow be the next Knick PG. The rumors have emerged again in the wake of the LeBron debacle. Paul is a truly great player and worth a lot. That wouldn't bother me. But we'll have to see if we still have Gallinari and Randolph when the music of this crazy summer stops.
In both cases, the mission from MSG this offseason seems to have been "Get big names."

Either Paul or Anthony would make me feel a lot better.
Although this doesn't fit D'Antoni's style, but my initial reaction to the LeBron announcement was to replicate the style of the '94 Knicks. I'd love to get a few bangers down low that'll teach baby James to stay out of OUR paint. Make him pay...
At this point with MSG teams, I won't believe anything until it's official, no matter how many sources report it.
I will say one thing positive: I don't believe that Isiah is seriously being considered as a replacement for Walsh. I think he's just saying that to boost Isiah's future prospects in the NBA.
I had the same thought as the other post. They should become "bad boys," with another coach.
I detested Riley/Daley ball.

Kovy-gate comes 2 an end tomorrow. Kings win the process.. Don't want announcment 2 get overshadowed by WC.

I'm not saying Riley/Daley is optimal, but as is often said in boxing, styles make fights, and sometimes a given style of play is the optimal way to counter a more talented team.
Just told from very well-placed source that LA report is 'inaccurate'. Guess its possible, but Im hearing otherwise right now. Still digging

Lombardi tells TSN. "Ilya Kovalchuk is coming to Los Angeles for face to face discussions, just like any free agent would. We are a long way from agreeing on a contract."
supposedly Iyla left LA without a deal nor made any progress towards one. Is Glen gonna swoop him up now?
I guess we'll see.
