Yanks Send Hoffman Back to the Dodgers

With Hoffman going back, it looks like Marcus Thames will make the squad. That's suboptimal. While I am a fan of players with Yankee DNA, Thames hasn't hit at all this Spring, and he literally cannot play a lick of defense. Now, I believe defense has become slightly overrated, but it's not so overrated that we can ever trot out Thames to play a corner. I've got to assume there's a trade brewing. This just won't work. Go Yanks!

If there isn't a trade brewing yet, I would guess we'll see one this summer before the trade deadline. Boy, Hughes got thumped pretty good today.

He threw a few bad pitches. He was mostly dominant.

Girardi loved the way Hughes threw today. He called it the best he looked all spring, particularly his change.

They don't need to make a trade yet unless there is something out there for free. If Thames is as done as he has looked, one of the veteran AAA OF they acquired will probably be called up, or maybe even Curtis.

Curtis is a lefty swinger, so I think that rules him out. I think they're gonna want righty power off the bench.

A decent lefty is better than an awful righty.

That's why they're probably looking for a righty upgrade who can come off the bench. It isn't inhouse unless they Vazquez is a better OF than Thames.

What about going with 4 OF and letting both Pena and Russo make the team?

Randy Winn is a good filler.

Thames will be the 1st DFA of the season.

Given that I doubt Hoffman was going to hit at all, I've no problem with this.

Please send the loser of the 5th starter battle to AAA. No more bullpen nonsense.

Rich, OT, but on LoHud you posted that CC felt uncomfortable about the Yankees clubhouse at first. Do you remember what article it was you read this?

he felt uncomfortable about what he had heard about it before joining the team. Cash has talked about that a lot in interviews and Cash told him he wanted CC to help change the clubhouse.

Mike

Phil is right. Cash discusses it with Francesa here, about a quarter the way in.

No sweat Mike. We may be a small group, but we always share.

OT, on the Knicks

I think the fix has been in there for a couple of years.

I've always had a feeling Carmello would end up with the Knicks.

The Yankees released Chris Malec

Melo and Bron would be the ultimate dream for us Knicks fans!

Nice win. The combination of Chandler's absence and Douglas's insertion into the starting lineup have freed up Galinari. He also looks a lot stronger physically.
