Cash to News: No Plan Yet

Cash today told the Daily News that though he has completed the meetings with his advisors, he has not presented his recommendations to ownership or gotten their financial parameters yet, and so there is no plan. Cash is clearly going to make the market wait for the Yanks this year, unlike last year when they came out of the box with a knockout offer for CC Sabathia, and began engaging Burnett and Lowe and meeting with Teixeira. I think Chapman was already a go with ownership, so that could still happen first. But we'll see. On the other hand, Cash could be lying, and they could come out of the box swinging. We'll know soon enough.

UPDATE: In other news, Andy Pettitte finally filed for free agency today.

I tend to think he is not fully telling the truth, he has to have a plan in place or at least a very good idea of where he wants to go . cough cough Halladay :)

He no doubt has his "board" stacked, so we can assume that the top of the board is the plan. Now as of earlier today he said he hadn't spoken to ownership and that probably is just a way of saying nothing's gonna happen fast. We'll see.

I think its much like any other business that is doing well. You go in with your 2010 wish list and you see if you can convince senior management to agree on expenditures. There is no doubt that Cash has a plan....with contingencies, but my gut says that Hal is a little tougher sell than George was. I think that Cash has a clear plan that he won't share with the public and I hope he has as good an offseason as last year.
