Thanks, Jason

The Yankees declined their option on Jason Giambi in all likelihood ending his somewhat tumultuous time as a Yankee. In all, I think Giambi was a good Yankee and a gamer, though unfairly, given the volume of the problem, he became one of the poster boys for the steroid use that had been going on in MLB for the past twenty year. Still, he had some huge hits and walks, tried hard, and was popular with his teammates. Replacing him will not be cheap. Good luck, Big G!

In other news, the Yanks also declined the option on Carl Pavano, and A.J. Burnett opted out of his contract with the Blue Jays. Brian Cashman was seen in deep conversations with Hideki Matsui and his agent and the GM meetings today. Could a trade be in the works? Go Yanks!
