The Bargaining Has Begun

According to SI's Jon Heyman, the Yanks have made an oppening bid for CC Sabathia that is North of 140M. He also reports that the Yanks will have offers out to Lowe and Burnett in the next day or two. I trust that they are also active on the trade front and looking to supplement the offense. Go Yanks!

Phil besides CC do you expect us to get either or both of the other two?

I have no idea. I had thought Burnett, but Lowe's era+'s have been far superior. Still, he's 35 and would be another groundball pitcher.

I think Lowe would be on a cheaper deal if nothing else. You made a great point yesterday about AJ and the K's with the D behind him.

Lowe also manages to stay healthier. At the same time he hasn't pitched in the AL in years and it might be a tough adjustment.

Another excellent point Phil. I do like the fact that Lowe is a gamer and comes to pitch every start. I think if we got him along with the others the pressure would be off as he would be at best our 3 more likely the 4th. I know it is wishful thinking to get all 3 but if we did???

If we did, it would limit what we could do to fix the O and could end up blocking kids over the lenght of the 3 deals.

That would mean Tex is definitely out for sure. I wonder if Cash's approach is to get the rotation dominant, and look for Dunn type players to fix the O? If we did get all three Hughes wont be starting this year, which makes you wonder would he be dealt?

I don't know if Hughes will be dealt, but I do suspect that Cash will surprise us with some trades, like he did yesterday.
