Yanks Re-Sign Marte

The Yankees have re-signed Damaso Marte for 3 years/12M. Frankly, I would have preferred the picks. Though Marte is the rare middle reliever who has been consistent over the years, middel relievers in general remain fungible, and great bullpens can be constructed without spending closer money or close to it for a non-closer. What's more, the Yanks are turning down two picks to keep him. Would they spend either of those two picks on a middle reliever? No. But, they just spent both of them on one. And this is all a matter of good prospects and good money chasing the Marte for Enrique Wilson deal. I hope Marte is healthy for three year and lights out, but I still would have far preffered the picks. Go Yanks.
