Kevin Long?

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/27/sports/baseball/27base.html According to this, AAA batting coach Kevin Long will replace Don Mattingly as hitting instructor while Mattingly takes over as bench coach. Long has been with the Yanks for 3 years, and the two best hitters we've promoted over those years are Cano and Melky, and neither spent much time at AAA before promotion. Before the he was with the Royals. I don't know what he had to do with Beltran, Sweeney or Damon, but I sure feel like Rudy Jamarillo would have been a stronger move, particularly given his bond with ARod. I question whether or not Long will get max performance out of the greatest line-up ever assembled. In Cash I trust, but this seems like a bit of a gamble.
