Yanks Contnue Re-Fangling Their System

Last Fall, the Yanks shook the world by making Dillon Lawson minor leaguer hitting coordinator for the system.  Lawson was not a Gary Denbo clone, rather he’s consisted dats driven and all about pitch recognition instead of loading, striding and swinging, his focus pitch recognition.  Yesterday, they left the Nargi Contreras’s of the world in the dirt, by hiring Driveline’s Sam Briend as Director of Pitching. Driveline’s been a wildly successful private coaching combine where they specialize in bio mechanics and cutting edge techniques and machines to get guys throwing harder and increasing their spin rates and maxing out.  This is fascinating because the Yanks had already been good at finding more velocity in draft picks, now their upping that operation.  Let’s hope he can revolutionize pitching health in the organization, too.
