Greg Bird To Miss 6-8 Weeks

Unreal. Greg Bird just had to have surgery on his right ankle again. This time to remove a bone spur.  Can't help but think this was a consequence of last year's medical misadventures for Greg.  Seriously the Yanks need to take a serious look at their medical and surgical teams.  This should have been caught last year or in his pre-camp physical.  Just ridiculous.  Meanwhile, Tyler Austin will come up and crush lefties for them while Birdy is out.  Hopefully, he'll prove core and make them move someone else when the time comes.  Just terrible news, and DP's will probably suffer.  At least the Castro part of that problem is gone.

As I said in the earlier thread, as much as it sucks, it sounds rather benign. Whether or not there’s negligence on someone’s part, I just don’t know.

Gotta find out this year if Bird is the long term solution for 1B.

I see no reason why not.

Bone spurs talke years develop. Anything they saw today could have been seen before camp opens, as well as last year when they had the ankle open.

Oh, maybe I am wrong, but I thought I read the spur was thought to be a consequence of the surgery. That would not rule out diagnosing it earlier.
