Giants Trade JPP

This morning the Giants announced that they traded JPP to Tampa for a high third and a swap of 4th's.  The player who once had a chance to go down in history and the Giants second greatest defender, is gone.  They are clearly moving to a 3-4 Base, rather than an amoeba or hybrid or multiple front deal.  It's going to be the 3-4, just like LT played.

Getting the the high third is great, let's hope they don't use it to trade up.  I wouldn't mind a clever trade down, but then trading back up would be the Giants getting too clever.  That's how you end up with Sinorice Moss type guys.  So let's hope they added picks or just use the ones they have.

UPDATE: The Giants have also waived Dwayne Harris.

Anyone that says they know whom Gettleman is going to draft is clueless. This is the second trade which I like that no one heard a peep about. Would it shock if he traded another current roster player?

I think Reese re-signed JPP to this terrible contract because it was one of the few players he had left from one of his horrible drafts.

So props to Gettleman for dumping it and getting something worthwhile back.

I’m still all in on a quarterback at two.

Could Bradley Chubb be their pick @ #2?

Maybe the biggest things about this trade is as some writers have poi out, it frees up money for Collins and OBJ

I am torn about Apple. Deal him while you may get a return? Keep him and see if he does better under new coaches.

I would keep him otherwise you’re selling really cheap.

Harris gone.

Can't trade Apple. Cut DRC, and Apple has the size and speed to be perfect as a 3-4 cover 2 CB.

Nothing Gettleman has done this far has been obvious, so I don’t expect Chubb at 2. I expect a QB or a trade down a few spots.

FWIW: I just heard Chris Canty on ESPN radio. His sources inform him that the only quarterback the Giants would take at 2 is Darnold. He doesn’t rule them moving down or moving up.

Now maybe he knows as much about football as baseball because during the season he said any criticism of Girardi was ridiculous.
