Yanks Hire Some Old Friends

The Yanks have hired David Adams to coach one of their GCL Teams and Torre Fave Miguel Cairo to be their Minor League Field Coordinator.  This will be David's first managing stint, after his promising career was short circuited by injuries.  He was one of the first real Yankee type bats they grabbed out of college. The other guy who was like that, Bradley Suttle, also had his career fall apart do to injury.  Miguel Cairo played for 17 years, two of which were spent with Torre's Yanks, and for the past 5 years he's been a special assistant to the Reds. I like it when they hire ex-Yanks.

Torre would have put Cairo in charge of offense.

If they want Machado, my guess is they will have to play him at SS.

I think if that time comes, AROD will have a talk with him and he will play 3B just like his idol.

If Andujar ends up being as good as some are projecting him to be, I just don't see any reason to give Machado a big deal, unless they think Didi's contract demands aren't going to be realistic. I also want to have at least a few lefties in the lineup despite what the shift has done to their value.

It was crazy that A-Rod wasn’t the SS here in 2004 since he was much better defensively than Jeter.

Anyway the reason I say SS is because that’s obvious where he wants to play and unlike with Jeter, Didi won’t be the beneficiary of reality distortion.

If they don’t want to sign him, fine. But I would trade Didi either way.

I would too if the right deal came along. Still, I would probably just rather they sign Harper in all honesty.

I completely understand why the focus is on Judge and Stanton, but I think it’s very possible that Sanchez and/or Bird has a better season than at least one of them.

People forget that Sanchez hit 33 last year even though he missed a month, was injured for part of another and was suspended for three games for beating up a former roider and Bird was always the best hitter when they were all in the system and healthy. BA and others, somehwhat insanely, tend not to rank 1B's in their top 100 but Bird is legit.
