Trenton, Tampa and the Riverdogs Start today

The Kaprielian news was slightly foreboding this morning, but the great news is that Chance Adams is taking the hill for the Trenton Thunder later today.  Scranton has been postponed till Saturday, but Tampa and Charleston are also starting and both are also loaded.  And although the Kap news is what it is, we are so loaded, that someone else might step up if he misses significant time.   I'll try to do some roster reviews if I have time later.

UPDATE: Trenton is rained out, so Jordan Montgomery will start for Tampa.

I will assume Trenton is on the road because the state is getting drenched.

Yankees notes from Heyman:

They seem to be hoping Didi Gregorius is back May 1, but there are no guarantees. In the meantime, Ronald Torreyes is off to a nice start in place of Gregorius.
They will choose the fifth starter from Luis Cessa, Chad Green and Jordan Montgomery. Montgomery is a lefty with pitchability, and that would be a plus if he’s ready.
Their 24-8 record this spring was among the best in Yankees history.
CC Sabathia seems to be adjusting to life under 95 mph.
GM Brian Cashman says he isn’t worried about Clint Frazier and has faith in him.
Chase Headley deserves uber credit. He has hit seven of eight balls either up the middle or to the left side (as Jack Curry of YES Network noted, in an obvious attempt to beat the shift.) And he has. Good for him!

Final line for Jordan Montgomery with @TampaYankees: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K, 48 pitches (39 strikes). Chad Green on in relief.

Anything is possible, but this sounds like a crock of shit:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/yankees-won-pursue-masahiro-tanaka-opts-source-article-1.3027151

According to team sources, the Yankees are annoyed at Tanaka's agent, Casey Close, for holding the threat of a potential opt-out over their heads.

----

Really, the Yankees are upset with a clause that they agreed to include in the contract? Please.
I refuse to believe that they are stupid.

So, it's business, they either negotiate or they don't if he opts out. It's not about emotion.

Chad Green gives up a leadoff HR in the 9th and takes the loss for the @TampaYankees. Final line: 4 IP, 2 H, 1 R/ER, 0 BB, 5 K.

Quotes in the NYP from Yankee executives indicate that I was right. As people know, I am never reluctant to criticize the Yankees when I think it is deserved, but this was crazy.

Jordan needs to be on the big-league roster.

I agree, and I think Pineda needs to go to the pen.

It's not about W-Ls. It's about development. Tonight was a positive for Severino.

They need a lot of things to go right to compete, and right now only a few things are going right in any particular game.

I was actually impressed with Severino.

Injuries, man. Injuries. One day this team is going to shake its awful luck in recent seasons.

Call Higgy up.

It'll be Higgy, per Sweeny Murti.

Will he play?

I had feared Sanchez had a elbow issue. So good it isn't.

If stupid trolling was a disease, Kevin Kernan might be dead.

Missed the game, but Holliday had 5 BB???

Yep.

It's obviously early, but if Blake Rutherford keeps hitting like this, he may end the season in AA.
