Rangers Brass Gather in La Quinta

Gorton and the gang are currently gathered at Sather's place in La Quinta, California.   Wonder if I should drive up and try to talk some sense into them.  Anyway, they are reporedly on the verge of signing possible phenom Pavel Buchnevich, from that incredible third round their scouts produced a few years ago that also netter Duclair, who has since been traded in a typical Ranger overpay, and Adam Tambellini, who is currently blocked by people like Tanner Glass.

Now, aside from figuring out how to recover some lost picks, and otherwise expand their young talent base, the Rangers have to deal with their huge cap problem.  The Rangers will be losing Boyle which will add some room, but still have to re-sign their RFA's and try to bring back Yandle.  That said, they should only bring back Yandle if it doesn't prevent them from keeping their RFA's. It's unclear if they'd be interested in trading Rick Nash, who has only briefly been great as a Ranger.  Raanta sure seems priced for trading.  It seems likely they'll be able to move Girardi or Staal without buying out one or both of them.   The team needs some re-imagining, and they may have to waste money to save money against the cap.  That's never efficient, but is one of the advantage of having a cash cow with a capped workforce.
