Yanks Jake Cave to AA

Jake Cave was promoted to AA today.   He was playing a solid CF for Tampa and among the minor league leaders in hits.   The organization would like him to walk a bit more and hit more jacks, but their parks suppress that stuff.   This is a good move for Jake who lost a season in the lower minors for health.  He's supposed to be a pretty intense guy, so lets hope he keeps growing as a ballplayer.  This was a little overdue, but they had a logjam of OF's in AA.   Could also be ahead of a trade.

Now they need to take the next step and promote Refsnyder, Roller, and Pirela and get rid of some of that has been deadweight

On Refsnyder:

“Were just trying to maintain that skill,” Newman said. “He’s still primarily a second baseman for us as we look toward the future. … He’s going to play a few games out there (in the outfield) occasionally. Gives him another way to get to the big leagues. Gives us the flexibility to deal with problems that arise in the future.”

The problem has a name: Brian Roberts

Yeah, but it feels like they're about to promote a bat.

I am not that impressed with Roller, as I think they would limit themselves with him being only a DH and 1B. right now, Beltran needs the DH slot, and the hope is that Tex plays 1B as often as possible.

Regarding Refsnyder and Pirela, bring them up for Roberts and Johnson - now.

I'm not assuming Beltran will be healthy for any decent stretch.

Roller is a horrible 1st basemen and Rob can't handle the pivot. Unless he comes up to play left 'd rather let him develop.

Horrible first baseman? First time I've heard that.
