Tanaka Impressive As Yanks Roll

Masahiro Tanaka got off to a bit of a bumpy start, giving up a bomb to the first batter he faced, Melky Cabrera.   The Jays scored two more runs in the second, one earned, one not, by way of a rare throwing error by Tex.  Tex would later leave the game with a hamstring - yikes, but Tanaka would settle down.  He ended up going 7 strong with 8K's, 6 hits, no walks and only 2 earned runs.   Thornton and Betances pitched a scoreless 8th.    Betances put the leadoff man on in the 8th, so DRob came in at 7-3.  Not sure if he gets a save for that.

The Yanks produced 7 runs on 16 hits, with just a few walks, and 4 stolen bases.  They were once again run into one or two outs by Rob Thompson.   Solarte an Dean Ana started an played reasonably well.   Ellsbury and Gardner batted 1-2 in this lineup as Jeter was sitting out, and got on base, scored runs and played good D.  Hmm.   Ellsbury had a really good game at the plate, stole 2 and made a great catch in CF.    Nice win all around, and a very encouraging showing  by mister Tanaka.

Pineda goes tomorrow, and let's see if the under 30's can produce a third straight win.
