Ranger Version of Jackass
As was widely reported yesterday, Ranger coach Alain Vigneault ripped JT Miller as he made his millionth trip back down to the minors. The facts of the matter are that JT Miller has dominated the AHL this year, and barely gotten chances with the Rangers. That's been illogical, considering the under performances around the Rangers forward groups at various times this year. But, it is what it is. What absolutely wasn't called for were Vigneault's comments about Miller's focus. He's been focused enough to score more than a point a game in the AHL as one of the youngest players in the league. Is the coach suggesting that he becomes a goof off at the NHL level? Doesn't smell right. And it was totally classless. If you have a problem with the kid, lay it out for him, not for us. To me, it just looked like he was justifying his ridiculous yo-yoing of Miller all year. I have no idea why else the coach would rip a kid on the way out. He doesn't rip the vets who have a bad game or two, and Miller hasn't be given time to get traction. I consider this one strike against Vigneault. He needs to take them deep into the playoffs.
