Pineda Earns His First Yankee Win
Michael Pineda pitched 6 inning of 1 run ball agains the Sox tonight, striking out 7 in the process. Nice work. He actually pitched 6 innings of 2 hit no run ball, but came out for the seventh and gave up a homer and a single. Cabral replaced him, balking the base runner over to second, before recording to out and being lifted for David Phelps. Phelps then worked the 7 out save. Probably his first.
Pineda was very strong early then saw his velo drop a bit. Remember he's missed a lot of time over the last 2 years and will need to keep rebuilding for awhile. But this was a big step.
Dean Anna homered! But Yangervis seems have gone in the tank. McCann finally had a meaningful hit with men on and the Yankees ended up winning 4-1. Pineda and Phelps were the big stories, though.
