Yanks Extend Gardner

In an example of how they should handle their own, the Yanks are apparently wrapping up a 4 year extension with super defender Brett Gardner.   The deal appears to have a 1 year option at the end of  it and will take him to age 36 or 37.   The Yanks should NEVER make a deal that goes past 36 or 37. He's still duplicative with Ellsbury, but those two can cover some ground in left and right.  I think the annual number is 12.5 in the deal so he'll still be pretty tradeable unless he gets hurt.     I wonder if the still would have signed Ellsbury if they knew something sane like this was possible with Gardy.
