Giants: Losing Nicks?

Weird morning.   For no apparent reason, there are stories circulating the Hakeem Nicks will not be back, because not only were the Giants disappointed in his play lately, but he also missed treatment for his injuries and the Giants had to fine him numerous times for being late for meetings.  That was quite a load of information to get first thing.

While I always thought they could lose Nicks, I had hoped they'd find a way to keep him, the reason being that he is really hard to replace.   Hakeem Nicks was a dynamic WR and playmaker.  He used to score a lot of TD's and he could change and take over a game, like he did against Atlanta and then the Packers the last time we were in the playoffs.   There's no one in free agency to replace him, and Ruben Randle ain't it.   So the Giants would have to use their first rounder,  or seriously pray for a Tiki/Strahan sized miracle in the second round.

And that's going to be tough this year because even though it's a good, deep draft for WR's,  it's also a  good draft for Guards and fixing the OL should take precedence over WR, and would if we had already locked up #88.

That being said, I am still not sure he's leaving.   Wherever this stuff came from, it's meant to make Nicks look bad.  For instance,  Nicks said he wasn't injured, yet, someone is saying he missed treatment for his injuries.    The fine stuff is whatever it is, but the effort stuff is not good, and now it's been introduced to the marketplace.

It is not like the Giants to kick a player as he's leaving. However; it is not unlike the Giants to take part in a form of reality therapy when trying to sign a moody player.  Remember Plax?    Anyway, let's not call this over till it's over.   The Giants already have a ton to do with the OL, RB, and TE, let alone having to find another #1 type WR.
