Giants: What About Tom?

Tom Coughlin will be 68 when the new season begins.   As of now, no extension of his deal has been announced and that is scheduled to end after next season.  Now, the Giants never go into a season with a lame duck coach, that haven't and they won't, so there will be an extension.   But for how long?

As I mentioned last night, the Giants are in a slightly weird position.  They gave McAdoo a 2 year deal.  So as of right now, he's scheduled to be here longer than Coughlin.  Won't stay like that, but the problem is, McAdoo could start getting head coaching offers next season.  What will the Giants do then, if he's successful?   Would a promise of being the next Giant coach have to be used to keep him?   I'd think so.

Meanwhile, it will still be interesting to see who they bring in to replace the fired coaches.  They'll need a at least one from a WCO base, I would think.  Otherwise, if McAdoo leaves next year for another job, they'll have no master of the new O left.  So, I think that's why they'll try to get Dorrell or someone else with a WCO background in to join the staff.

And I still think they're waiting for Mike Sullivan to come back as QB coach.  But, I think Loggains, who they really liked and was also a very good QB coach is still available.   So this could be interesting.   We'll see.

But they do have to scotch guard the organization against a one and done job by McAdoo.
