Beason to the Giants?

Rumors have been flying around all night that the once great Jon Beason has been traded to the New York Giants for a late round pick.   Paul Schwartz is reporting that the Panthers say it's done.  Okay, now everyone is saying the deal is done pending a physical tomorrow morning.     This seems sort of pointless.  Yes, Beason was great once.   But he was always and instinct player with little speed.   Once the leg injuries started taking that away, guys like Chase Blackburn could and did beat him out for a starting position on the Panthers.  This feels a little sad.  And it could be very sad if the deal is for anything more than a 7th, because the Giants are on schedule to draft early in each round this year.    Weird bandage for a team that needed to fix the OL first and foremost.
