Ranger Final Cuts: a Trade on the way?

After a pretty pathetic pre-season performance the Ranger roster currently stands at 30 and they want to get down to at least 23.   So they have to send down or otherwise dispose of 7 or more players before the roster is set.  For a long time it seemed as if the Rangers would make a trade to give themselves more cap space for Stepan and Lundqvist.     Well, they got Stepan done without making a deal but they are nearly half a million dollars over the cap, and they might make that cap trade now.   Guys like Boyle, Pyatt, Asham and Powe, seem extraneous, and having them down in the AHL would only dull the development mission for the Wolfpack.   So it seems like a possibility.  I wouldn't expect them to get much back pickwise unless the deal was expanded to include some youth.   We'll see.
