Yankees Sign Dustin Fowler

According to our pal KLF, the Yanks have come to terms with 18th round draft pick Dustin Fowler.   This is that kid whose dad made the goofy country music video of his son's exploits on YouTube.  Thus, they had to sign him.   Seriously, it looked like he had a stadium swing on the tapes and the Yanks themselves compared him to Jake Cave, another player in the system who's toolsy, rough and finally healthy this year.   Nice pick up!  They got him for 278K.

Now it will be interesting to see what happens with Aaron Judge.   Time is running out for him to take sign and take his physical before the deadline Friday.   If he doesn't sign, the Yanks get the pick back.  Would having that pick allow them to go 10% over allotment and blow next year's first?   We'll see.   I don't think it will come to that, though, unless Judge has poor judgement.

UPDATE:  Aaron Judge is now on a plane to Tampa.  Presumably, it's too take his physical and sign his deal.

Very interesting... I have to say that our minors have improved tremendously under Oppenheimer. He is taking the Gordie approach to things, which is what we need. Contrary to what the powers that be think, the fans would accept a "rebuild" as long as it's being done properly. Damon is a key cog in that, and I hope the trend continues!

Fowler is one of the 'tough signs" I was hoping for. Glad to see it happened. And if Judge is finally on that plane, my guess is finally came to his senses.
