Ranger Coach Hunt `13: Vigneault Reportedly Turns Down Dallas
Okay, this is breaking all over Twittr, but Alain Vigneault, who is believed to have met with James Dolan today, as apparently told Dallas he is no longer interested in pursuing that opportunity. That would seem to indicate that the Ranger job is his to take. A week ago, I was down with this idea, but I read articles saying one of the reasons that Alain Vigneault is available is that Vancouver is bringing up a bunch of kids and that they didn't think he'd be good with them. The Rangers have a lot of kids coming. I hope, if he gets the job, he finds away to empower them rather than bench them.

Earlier this week, Henrik and Daniel Sedin did an interview with Vancouver radio station Team 1040 and they were asked by Matt Sekeres about the firing of Alain Vigneault.
The Sedins were with Vigneault for his entire time with the Canucks and Vigneault’s start with the Canucks was the same time that the Sedins both entered into becoming elite NHL players.
Henrik, who was named Captain under Vigneault said, “he has meant a lot to us. He came in and gave us the opportunity to grow as players and gave us a first line role. He gave us a chance to succeed and meant a lot to us, but being here for seven years and you don’t reach the final goal, a time comes where something will happen. It’s never fun and he meant a lot to us but if you keep losing in the playoffs then something will happen.”
Daniel agreed with his brother and said, “”I think Alain is a really good coach, there is no question, but if you keep losing in the playoffs things are going to have to happen. It’s always easier to move the coach. We got a lot of respect for him and he is going to have a lot of success in this league.”
Henrik was then asked about how Vigneault delegated responsibility to a group of players and said, “we had a strong leadership group. It’s never been a problem that way. Sometimes when things aren’t going as well maybe you need someone to step in and take charge and let players play. I think he found a good way of dealing with that. He said his things sometimes, but we like as players to have a big role on the team off the ice. I wouldn’t say he didn’t do it well.”
