Rangers Add Another Enforcrer

While the hunt for Mike Richards goes on, the Rangers once again used the first day of FA to hire and enforcer. Mike Rupp has been around for awhile, and curiously they gave him a three year deal. The Rangers, who have done just about everything right from a draft and development standpoint for the passed few years, have had tough luck finding an enforcer. The one time they did was through a trade and then they lowballed him out of the organization. Odd.

What is more interesting for Ranger fans today, is that they did not send a delegation to meet with Brad Richards. May not mean anything if they are prepared to beat all bids, but hopefully it means they think he should want to come to the Rangers, and want some proof.

The other interesting thing, is that free agent defensemen are going for huge dollars, and that of course increases the trade value of the surplus of defensemen the Rangers now control. Could be interesting if the Rangers decide to pursue a trade for a forward.

Phil you a fan of the Rupp signing? They have a few things in the works besides Richards from what I hear, we will see if it amounts to anything...

What are you hearing? Trade that I've been sensing, possibly Weiss? I like Rupp fine as long as he doesn't block a prospect.

I am hearing more on the trade front right now. Weiss is being discussed, but I am not sure if that is in addition to or in stead of? I know you have been hearing 2 forwards so this maybe it... Stamkos maybe in play if they don't get Richards. I think Rupp means Feds is done, which is fine with me.

Zip seems to be confident that we are getting Richards, I have not heard anything one way or another yet, other then what we already know that before opening night there will be an elite top 6 forward added to the roster.

Cerny seems to know we are, the way he's tweeted. Then I think a trade for a forward is next.

I've been believing in Richards and a significant trade the whole time.

You have been saying that from day 1. Even Spector over at the Daily News says they are exploring trades for a LW for a potential Gabby/Richards line..
