Yanks Do It Right on Old Timers Day

After a typically wonderful Yankee old timer day, complete with a special tribute to legendary Yankee Trainer Gene Monahan, the Yankees won their regulation game. It was a great day at the stadium as the Yanks were down 3-0 and getting perfecto'd after 3 innings. Cano broke up the bid for history then Swish homered to make it 3-2. From there Po homered, Nunez singled in the run that broke a 4-4 tie, and Tex did what Tex does to seal it 6-4. Robertson and Mo were Robertson and Mo. It's poignant seeing some of Mo and Po and Jete's old teammates in the old timers game already. Just a great day to be a Yankee and a great day to be a Yankee fan.

•Rival evaluators have taken note of Jesus Montero's decline in offensive production this year, says ESPN.com's Buster Olney (Insider only). According to Olney, it's led to some speculation that the Yankees could push to trade Montero this season "in an effort to recoup some value."

Color me unworried about Montero's bat.

If the Yankees can show some patience, Nova could end up being a solid pitcher.

I'm also unworried about Montero's bat. He'll get hot and shut up all the morons.

Well said Mike and Phil, the naysayers need to pipe and zip. Montero will be fine. Nice win today. Loved the reaction the fans gave Mr. T

Do either of you expect Soriano/Feliciano to contribute this year, or are they both toast?

Don't know if they're toast, but DRob owns the 8th.

DRob has been the man, I may have mentioned this in another thread, but kudos to Damon and the scouts on him, he has been a find!

It would be nice to get some return on our investment, especially now since it seems Soriano will stay on another year. I hope that we did not waste the pick for nothing, as I do think he, and Feliciano have something to contribute

Robertson went to high school with me, and I watched him close at Alabama for two years. The coach at 'Bama at the time would constantly bring in the same pitcher in the eighth, who repeatedly let men on and put the team in a jam. Robertson would always come in to stop the damage -- and he'd always get the job done. What he's doing now is no surprise to me.

Montero has no business even being in AAA. Last year proved his bat was ready.

You're preaching to the choir about Montero.
