Rain Foils History

CC was perfect through Six, then had his brilliant start interrupted by a 30 minute rain delay. He gave up a hit to the second batter he faced in the 7th. That that the only hit he, Robertson and Mo would give up on the night as the Yanks won 4-1. There was another rain delay, and CC once again came back out, this time he didn't have it and walked the bases loaded. Robertson relieved and got two K's but gave up the run on a fielder's choice. The run was charged to CC. None of that would have happened if there had been no rain. Grandy and Tex homered. Yanks go for the sweep tomorrow. And I'm still a tad concerned about a Ubaldo trade. Go Yanks!

CC is the best pitcher in the game hands down. He will write his own check this offseason. I don't mind Ubaldo, but the cost to me is going to be prohibitive which makes it an automatic pass. If we were getting Halladay that's one thing, but he is nowhere near as dominant

He's not even as dominant as he used to be and Montero is heating up!

Montero, Joseph and Nova for Jiminez?

I woud do this but not sure if CO would.

Too much IMO. Ubaldo's velocity is a concern

Too much when you would not be parting with Betances or Banuelos?

Montero is a DH and with guys like Jeter and AROD needing that position for a breather, it would force Montero to the bench.

He is not an average catcher by any means.

Montero's bat alone makes it worth getting him into the lineup, regardless of his catching abilities (or lack thereof). If Jeter needs a breather, simply sit him. He's not good enough anymore to justify moving a potential Miguel Cabrera just so he'd have a DH slot open.

Yanks and Red Sox will scout Bedard tomorrow

Romine for Bedard?

Solid #3 guy if he can stay healthy.

That's a pretty big if. No way you give up anything of value for Bedard. I actually wouldn't mind Kuroda myself.

Not the way M's are valuing him.

Red Sox are said to be "All over him".

Can't let that happen if the price is Romine.

Sure you can. "All over" might be code for "make the Yankees think you want him so they'll panic." The Yankees should make the best deal for them, not make a deal to prevent the Red Sox from doing something.

If Montero truly isn't good enough to catch, all the more reason to hold onto Romine, as he's more major-league ready than the other catchers in the system.

The Sox gave away their valuable prospects for AGon. The Yanks should hold onto Montero. I don't mind trading Romine, at all. He doesn't have a Yankee Bat.

Martin will be here for a while.

Even though he's not good.

Martin has been incredibly unlucky this year. Romine is better than you think, Phil, and is not worth trading for someone who is an injury waiting to happen and is reportedly a poor teammate. :)

Romine doesn't have a Yankee Bat. Neither does Martin. It's fine if Martin is here while Montero gets broken in, but he's not good enough with the stick to give the Yanks their traditional advantage at C.

Then include Romine in a better deal than a three-month rental for an oft-injured pitcher with supposed work ethic problems.

I didn't suggest trading him for Bedard.
