Whither Carmelo?

As the Knicks continued to roll today, visiting player Carmelo Anthony drew as many cheers as the Knicks did. Anthony has made it clear that he really wants to be a Knick and will only sign an extension with them. The question now is, do the Knicks trade for him or wait? Anthony has been a volume player and been inefficient and there's no real reason to believe he'll be any better as a Knick, but somehow, I feel he will. I think the emergence of Raymond Felton has obviated the need for CP3, and with the way both he and Amar'e have flourished in the system, I think a happy Carmelo would, too. What do you think?

Unless it's Gallo, Curry, and a pick they get for Randolph (who I'd like to see play), I'd wait.

But D-Walsh has been pretty smart despite the serial physical impediments, so I am starting to trust him.

I'd think the owners might want the Carmello crowd their every day.

Yeah, but I hope Dolan has learned to let the basketball people operate on their own timetable.

Well, both LeBron and Kobe have gotten that kind of pop from the Garden crowd in the past few years, and Carmelo is one they can get. It will be interesting to see if Dolan gets involved.

If the Knicks are legitimate competitors the Garden will be sold out with the current cast of characters. Carmelo may or may not improve the team (I believe it would be a terrible waste of resources to trade for him) but the decision to bring him here shouldn't be driven by the thought of what will drive attendance.
