A few points: 1.) We need a bat at the deadline. LaRoche, Dunn, DeJesus, someone who can hit. 2.) Granderson has been a HUGE disappointment thus far. 3.) The O in general needs to start hitting. One, two, three runs a game ain't gonna cut it. 4.) Trade for bullpen help. If you have to, send Joba+ for a proven closer and let him set up for Rivera. I'd see if Kansas City would be willing to part with Soria, who'd be under control two more years after this one.
Apparently, Eiland finally admitted that Joba's mechanics are messed up. I know he seems to have good results with CC and A.J., but if he can't fix Joba, or get Vazquez to regain his velocity, what exactly are we paying him for?
Rich, I'd also like to acquire DeJesus as a fallback plan in case Granderson never starts hitting, and we want to trade him in the offseason. That way, DeJesus could be a fallback plan to sign this offseason without costing us picks.
I don't have a problem with "selling low" on Joba if it gets us Soria. I'd love to send him to AAA, but it's obvious the Yankees will never do that.
"Curtis Granderson might find some consistency if the Yankees would just stop asking him to do things he’s incapable of doing, but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards right now, so don’t expect much more."

Continuing to pretend that they can fix Park, or that the Joba strategy doesn't have to be rethought, is pathetic.

If Teix, Alex, and Jeter don't hit, nothing will matter.
I wouldn't trade Joba. I would send him down.
I think Granderson has disappointed offensively, but exceeded my expectations defensively.
Send Joba to A ball.
Get Berkman to DH.
Rich, I agree, but I think all three of them have big second halves, so I'm not overly worried about them.
I think Joba, like Tabata before him, needs to be shipped out of town to get righted. I don't think he's going to cut it in NY.
No to Berkman and his demands to picking up that ridiculous option.

If they all hit, they don't need offense.
If you read Girardi's comments that Jennings posted at LoHud, they are clearly looking for bullpen help.
I don't like trading low. I didn't like it with Tabata, and I wouldn't like it with Joba.

What do you think Soria and/or DeJesus would cost?
I think it would be prohibitive.
No idea, but if the Royals were willing to listen to a package centered around Joba and someone like Brandon Laird, I'd strongly consider it.
What do you think Steven Goldman means by this:
"Curtis Granderson might find some consistency if the Yankees would just stop asking him to do things he’s incapable of doing, but that doesn’t seem to be in the cards right now, so don’t expect much more."
I have no idea what that means.
He batted leadoff with Detroit, right? Maybe he means that he isn’t a run producer? I always thought batting order didn’t have much of an effect.
